Cbank: Russia’s trend inflation slows to 9.7% in March
MOSCOW, Apr 14 (PRIME) -- Russia’s trend inflation slowed to 9.7% in March from 10.5% in February, the central bank said Thursday.
“If the current trends of price dynamics and monetary aggregates persist, we expect a gradual reduction of estimates of trend inflation,” the regulator said.
The central bank uses a median value of three inflation estimates made with the help of dynamic factor models when calculating trend inflation, which reflects middle-term inflationary expectations, changes in absolute prices and monetary aggregates’ dynamics.
Trend inflation may be used in monetary policy as a more precise estimate in comparison with an actual inflation estimate, which is more volatile.
